Ruth Prasad, MD, listens first, treats every patient as a partner in their care, and uses science as a tool to restore health and dignity. Dr. Prasad’s approach balances clinical precision and evidence-based care with empathy and advocacy. She empowers patients to take ownership of their health, encourages questions, dispels myths, and ensures they feel listened to and cared for. 

Medical Specialty: 

Dr. Prasad specializes in general infectious diseases. Her area of expertise includes HIV care, tropical and travel medicine, antimicrobial stewardship, tuberculosis and global health equity. She is interested in improving access to care for underserved populations. 

Professional Achievements: 

Dr. Prasad earned her undergraduate medical degree from Dr. D.Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre in Pune, India.  

In 2022, the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education honored her with the David C. Leach Award for advancing humanism in medicine and improving educational outcomes for medical residency doctors. In 2014, she was honored with the Outstanding Service Award by the government of India for her efforts to improve public health, including anemia control, tuberculosis education and childhood immunization.
