About Sherri Ruggiero

“My goal as a provider is to help my patients recognize when the demands of life exceed what they have to give, and to find new ways of managing this imbalance that are more sustainable and adaptive.” 

Care Philosophy: 

Dr. Ruggiero takes time with her patients to learn what is important to them, recognizes each person is the expert in their own lived experience and works collaboratively to develop strategies that honor their healing journey. 

Medical Specialty: 

Dr. Ruggiero provides therapy for adults experiencing behavioral health issues including weight management, mood disorders, trauma, neurodivergent presentations, grief/loss, adjustment to health-related changes and emotional dysregulation. She has experience in DBT, CBT and EMDR therapies. Dr. Ruggiero also provides cognitive, personality, presurgical, ADHD and autism evaluations for her patients.  

Professional Achievements: 

Dr. Ruggiero earned her Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Colorado in Boulder. Her master’s degree in mental health counseling and Doctor of Philosophy in counseling psychology were both earned at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff.  

Dr. Ruggiero is a member of the Northern Arizona Psychological Society (NAPS), Arizona Psychological Association (AzPA) Northern Arizona Representative, AzPA Rural Psychological Committee, AzPA Ethics Committee, National Register of Health Service Psychologists, EMDRIA International Association Certified Therapist and EMDR Consultant, Humanity Assistance Programs, Critical Incident Stress Debriefing ICISF Certified, Chi Sigma Iota National Honor Society – Beta Alpha chapter since 2010 and was counseling representative in 2013-2014, is a Star Member provider for military service members, Golden Key National Honor Society and ACE Weight Management Specialist.
