About Me:
“I see myself as a member of my patients’ team on their journey through cancer care. I want them to be comfortable asking any and all questions they have so that there is no uncertainty as they go through treatment.”
Care Philosophy:
Dr. Rice believes in seeing her patients as a person first, not just a diagnosis. She likes to understand what is most important to an individual patient and then offer informed and shared decision-making. She believes that open and honest discussion is the best way for her, the patient and their family to create a treatment plan that achieves the best possible health outcome.
Medical Specialty:
Dr. Rice specializes in radiation oncology with a special interest in head and neck cancers; soft tissue sarcoma; and gastrointestinal cancers such as liver, pancreatic, rectal and anal cancers. She performs a broad scope of general radiation oncology and is board-certified to treat all cancers and non-cancerous processes requiring radiation therapy.
Professional Achievements:
Dr. Rice earned her Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison, WI, and her bachelor’s degree in nuclear medicine technology from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in La Crosse, WI. She completed her residency in radiation oncology at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. Dr. Rice is board-certified in radiation oncology through the American Board of Radiology.

My experience with Dr. Rice was excellent! I appreciated her interest in learning about my life/circumstances. She was generous with time and answered all my questions. And, then followed up with a phone call to inform me about a tumor board decision. I am very impressed!

The doctor didn't listen to anything I had to say. I was very upset when I left and did not contact her again.

Dr. Rice is incredibly well versed in her field, with the latest evidence based data and current knowledge of appropriate treatment techniques and available clinical trials. She listens to patient concerns, is professional and compassionate. One example of her ability to adapt and understand the needs of her patients is the change from permanent to semi-permanent tattoos for radiation patients. This allows a patient that would like to remove tattoos after treatment has concluded to do so with less difficulty.
